A sneak peek

Well girls, after that last post I thought I would move on to something more cheery.  I'm sorry but I just can't sit and do nothing about such sick injustice when I do have a voice.

Anyway, I bought this sturdy, wooden tray at a yard sale this past summer.  Do any of you ever have a hard time sanding down and painting over something that someone so lovingly created years ago?  It's so hard for me to do.  Even though I grew up with blue ducks all over the dining room and kitchen, I'm still not particularly fond of them.  My mom would probably like this though, hehe.

So I sanded it down and painted a base coat of Blue Mist.  Then I topped it with two coats of Battleship Gray.

After some sanding and ebony Briwax, this is what I ended up with...

Do you like it?  I hope so because it's part of my one year blog anniversary giveaway.

So if you don't like it, then don't come back next week hopefully on Monday when I announce my giveaway.  =]

No, my Amish dolls are NOT included (or the other things pictured), hehe.  But here is a sneak peek of some things that will be included...

Do you see a theme yet?  I thought it would be fun to have a Winter Blues giveaway since so many people are ready for spring to show up. I am enjoying winter.  But if you have the winter blues or grays, then this giveaway might be for you.

I wish for you a fantastic weekend.  Whether it be sunshine or snow, enjoy it while you can.  Stay safe and warm my friends~

  3. I used to LOVE geese in my kitchen. I still have a little bit of stuff, but I phased most of it out. I still have some dishes, but all of the dinner plates are gone. The last one my husband accidentally dropped on the floor recently. I really didn't care, I was actually kinda glad it broke lol.

I love what you did with the tray. I have a tray that is just bare wood, but I haven't decided what to do with it to make it pretty. My husband found it in the trash somewhere and thought I'd want it. It has a Melissa & Doug label on the back that I need to scrape off. (They make kids toys.)

  6. I love that tray!! I want to know how to get that effect when I paint stuff. I'm really, really new at this and I'm kind of messy when I work, so my husband shudders to think that I will start doing more of it. I haven't tried any Briwax yet. I'll have to go looking for some. Thanks for sharing. (And I can't wait for your giveaway!!) Have a great weekend!

  25. Hi Angie,
I just love what you did with the tray. It's just perfect and how you have it all set up with your Amish dolls and such, priceless. It's too sweet.

You know, it's funny, those ducks on the tray are just like the ones my mom and grandma would paint way back when when they were learning toll painting and all that sort of thing. It reminded me of it and I still have a duck that my uncle cut out from wood and my grandmother painted and hung in her kitchen for years.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blogs so much and leaving such wonderful comments. I appreciate it so very much and you are really a delightful person.

    Blessings and hugs to you,
    Susan @ CluckleBees

  26. I love how the tray turned out. I have heard of briwax but never seen it anywhere. I even went to our local Lowes and couldn't find it. The Winter Blue giveaway sounds like a wonderful idea! I know I started off with a bang but have stalled.

    Hope your staying warm!
    *hugs*
